Week 7: August 7-11 – Exploring the Marsh

Salt marshes are incredibly diverse and important ecosystems which makes them a great place to explore! We will spend this week catching mummichogs, searching for coffee bean snails and ribbed mussels, nibbling on tasty plants, and exploring the tidal flats of the Essex River. We will also investigate the uplands surrounding the marsh and learn about the birds and insects that make this unique area home.

Week 8: August 14-18 – A Salute to Summer

We will mark our final week of summer camp with a celebration of all the season has to offer. From catching crabs to splashing in tidal creeks to making salads out of wild edibles to racing snails we will pack as much fun in the sun as we can into this week. The week will close with a Coastal Olympics where campers will participate in various challenges based local ecology.
