Our After School Adventures programs are a great way for your child to unwind and release energy after a long day in school. After playing a few games, your children will follow our veteran educator-naturalists into the woods to explore. On any given day we might be rolling logs while looking for salamanders, identifying and sampling wild edibles, learning about animal adaptations, or learning how to safely build, light, and tend a fire. We guarantee your child will return home tired, dirty, and happy!
We offer our ASA program at two unique locations: Camp Denison in Georgetown, which offers over 40 acres of woodland and shoreline to explore and the North Shore UU church in Danvers which has 12 wooded acres along with easy access to the Danvers-Wenham Rail Trail, Choate Farm Reservation, and Putnamville Reservoir. Choose which ever day and location work best for you!
Danvers Location: North Shore UU Church (Tuesdays)
Dates: September 14 – October 19
Georgetown Location: Camp Denison (Thursdays) FULL
Dates: September 23 – October 28 – PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE
Our popular camp program, now in after school form!
Mountain biking is a great way to get some exercise while also enjoying the splendors of nature. Have your young biker join us for weekly excursions through our state forests where they will find a wide-variety of terrain and learn about local ecology and wilderness skills (i.e. fire building, shelter constructions, wild edible ID, etc.).
This fall we will offer two skill levels – advanced and beginner. Advanced bikers should be prepared to ride between 3-5 miles each day over (at times) challenging terrain. Our beginner class will be for those who are either just starting to mountain bike or are looking for an easier afternoon. Both classes will offer plenty of skill-level specific challenges along with lots of fun.
Beginner Class – Topsfield – FULL
Location: Bradley-Palmer State Forest
Dates: Mondays, September 13 – October 25 (no class on Oct 11)
Advanced Class – Georgetown – FULL
Location: Georgetown – Rowley State Forest
Dates: Wednesdays, September 15 – October 20
We are not requiring masks for our outdoor programs at this time. However, we will continue to monitor recommendations from the state Department of Health as well as the CDC and make changes to our policies as necessary.
Should we need to cancel a program due to COVID related issue, you will receive a pro-rated refund for any classes missed.
